About Florida Taekwondo College and Training Staff

Florida Taekwondo College was started in 1994 by Guillermo Mosquera, he started this club / school to promote the many benefits of the martial art and sport of Taekwondo in the Doral / FountainBlue (West Miami) Area. By 1995, the FTC had moved to a larger location to accomodate its growing number of students. The FTC prides itself in having one of the top curriculums in the Nation, producing various national and international Taekwondo competitors. We also pride ourselves in being a curriculum school that developes athletes by teaching students the basics of Taekwondo and moving them forward into more advanced skills such as competitive Taekwondo. Not everyone is going to the Olympics, but there is still much to be learned from Olympic Taekwondo. Confidence, Self Defense, Respect, Sportsmanship... And that is the idea that we carry at the FTC "Champions in Sport, Champions In Life".

Guillermo Mosquera began his martial arts training in 1978 (Judo) and was then introduced by his parents to the discipline of Taekwondo under the tutelage of Grand Master Byung Ho ChoiClick here to learn about FTC's Lineage.

Guillermo Mosquera has dedicated his life to Taekwondo, above all, teaching children the benefits and life skills that Taekwondo has to offer. Even as a competitor, Guillermo dedicated himself to the growth of the FTC, regardless of his outcome in the sport, yet he succeeded as an athlete winning various National titles and even representing the U.S.A. in International Competition.
In 1996, Guillermo placed third at the World Cup Taekwondo Championships (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) as a member of the US National Team.  That year, he was named Florida State Athlete of the Year by the Florida State Taekwondo Association.  In 2000, Guillermo and his training partner, Juan Moreno competed and won the US National Olympic Qualification Tournament which earned them rights to compete at the 1st Official US Olympic Trials in Taekwondo's history.

Instructor Lazaro Sabater has been involved with the Florida Taekwondo College since the late 90's.  His involvement in the school began as a parent and assistant coach, but quickly turned into a more involved position in the school.  His teaching style and passion for the martial arts were obvious, and soon, he would have his own Level 1 class.  Mr. Sabater began his training with Master Min Bae in Hialeah, Florida.  He holds a third degree Black Belt and various titles in Competitive Taekwondo.

Florida Taekwondo College has made many national and international champions throughout the years.  Not only a school that generates top caliber athletes, but also a learning center that teaches children of all ages the many health benefits of the Martial Arts.
